I have learned a lot from participating in this course. I hope that maybe there will be a follow up to this course. I have encouraged many people that I work with as well as friends and family members to look into taking this course.
I look forward to being able to spend a little more time investigating further some of the sites that were introduced.
I think the last clip could be used in many staff meetings or professional development days. I did not agree with the comment of the death of education. It is more like the new and improved way to provide/promote education.

Thing 22 Video Killed the Radio Star
You Tube, Teacher Tube and School Tube are wonderful sites that are available for teachers, parent, and students as well to use for teaching material.
I used it to help my son that was having problems in understanding an Algebra problem.
I used it to learn how to french braid my daughters hair.
I have used it just for entrainment purposes.
The advantages are many, but for me it is easier to learn by watching something as opposed to just hearing it described.
A disadvantage of You Tube is that it is open for any posting, it is for you by you. So some of the content you may not want children to see.
Teacher Tube and School Tube has helped with content issues. However , just like any other video one should watch it completely before showing.
There is so much material available. But the tagging and the searches makes it easier to locate what you are looking for.
In my building You Tube is blocked.

I am not sure this is a site I would use just for personal communication. I have limited time on the net, and even though this is supposed to keep you up on things, it seems like it is too little info for my time I have available.
I did like the idea of having it opened and logged in when you were maybe at a seminar and listening to a speaker. Sharing ideas or questions as they came up. Sometimes you are afraid to interrupt or ask a question for fear of feeling stupid, so you could post it on here and maybe have some confusion cleared up without exposing yourself.
I could see that helpful for students too that are sometimes too self conscience to raise their hand and speak out loud.

Is tagging a useful way to organize your digital resources and why?
This looks like a very convenient and useful way to save that uber cool site you are on, especially if you are not on your own computer. Many times I have been on a school computer or library computer and stumbled on a site I wanted to get back to later. I open my email and copy and paste the URL and send it to myself.
That is defiantly an advantage to the site. I have not explored the site enough to form opinions of the disadvantages of it.
Making sure you are very clear that your tag matches the content is very important to the success of it working for you as well as others.

Thing 18 Building your own PLN
Professional Learning Networks can be great ways for people to connect, share ideas and look for and offer support. Ning had many different sites for many different interests.
In a wider scope it is a great way for educators to connect outside of the school day and outside of your own school district.
Within my own department we have been assigned to do a group book study. This would be a good way for us to go through the process of reading and reporting about what we read. It could be set up by chapter and as we completed our assignment and we could post our thoughts about what we read and also how it relates to us within our organization.

I looked over all the features in the site. I am going to use this site and see how it works for my husband's Varsity football team. I may also try to use it for my son's little league team if I am the team Mom again this year.
I don't have the time right now to enter all the information and judge how the site works for the purpose I have. I like the format and will continue to search for one that is geared for the classroom. I am sure there is one out there. This would be a nice way to communicate with your individual class. Not sure of the implications of a Jr. High or High School teacher with so many students. Maybe doing one by hour? But a self contained elementary teacher could easily customize it.
